The 15th Liliw Gat Tayaw Tsinelas Festival of the Municipality of Liliw, under the leadership of Mayor Ericson J. Sulubit, has been awarded as the 2017 Best Tourism Event (Festival Category, Municipal Level) during the 12th Department of Tourism-Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (DOT-ATOP) Pearl Award held October 7 in Iloilo City.

The DOT-ATOP Pearl Award has five major award categories namely (a) Best Tourism Event, (b) Best Tourism-Oriented LGU, (c) Best Tourism Month/Week Celebration, (d) Most Outstanding Tourism Officer, and (e) Most Outstanding Tourism Officers Club/Organization/Association.

The Pearl Award is conducted to recognize men and women behind this great contribution in our community and the tourism industry  that will send a strong message to all of us that creative works and exceptional services and its cause are not going to be ignored or taken for granted but instead it should be noticed and recognized and will be publicized to provide visibility and recognition as rewards for such noble deeds.
